Our Family Word: Contribute

Contribute
Amid the chaos of today’s world, this young girl gives me hope. I’m glad she’s ours.

My favorite word may be “perspective,” but our family word is “contribute.” Quite simply, “do what you can, where you are with what you have.” Make a difference. Help. Contribute. While pushing Briggs on the swing, I looked over to see Brooklyn picking up confetti in the park. She stopped playing to help the two men who were taking out the garbage cans to clean up the park we enjoy. My daughter didn’t create the mess. Yet, she recognized the greater good of stopping to contribute. Instead of debating who did it and how it happened, she simply took responsibility to help.

It seems the world right now could learn a lot from a five year old. I appreciated her example. Because life is really that simple.
