I was doing some research today and saw this popup for the first time: “Results from people in your social circle for low back pain – BETA”
Google Gets Social
It is completely fascinating to me how social is going to be implemented into and impact search results. For companies not in this space – or moving quickly towards this space – be warned that you’ll find yourself on the outside looking in on this paradigm shift.
If you look at the graphic (click it and it’ll show full-size), you can see that I was logged into my Google account. I have given Google permission within my account settings to connect to social networks. Down towards the bottom, you will see the “Social Circle” results that are in beta. It highlights who in my network has shared certain results and has them on the first page within Google. Now, imagine the influence that you have over search results as they become integrated by successfully promoting your company and engaging with consumers in fun and interesting ways. Buckle in and put your thinking caps on…it’s going to get interesting.
Get social or go home…or at least don’t expect to be found on the first page.
