ThinkingThursday: Weddings and Funerals

Weddings and Funerals

“You can either hang around people who tell you that it can’t be done and you’re stupid for trying or you can hang around people who inspire possibility.”
-Scott Dinsmore, TED Talk

I’m in Nashville today. I wish I wasn’t. The world isn’t a better place today with the loss of perhaps the funniest person I’ve ever encountered. I’m devastated. I’ll miss my friend. Most of all his family will miss him and that is a daily pain I cannot fix.

It begs the question. Why are weddings and funerals the only times we feel compelled to gather and share our feelings? There is so much more.

The opportunity to rejoice and celebrate moments are too numerous, yet fleeting in the commotion of life. We miss them daily. Tragedy happens everyday. It may not infiltrate your world today. But, it will. The world is crazy like that.

Stop. Rejoice. Celebrate. Love.

The life we create is a direct result of the relationships we cultivate. Create the world you want. It shouldn’t take a wedding or a funeral. Call. Write. Post. Reach out. Love. Do something.

The opportunity to say, “I love you,” is so much greater than saying nothing and living a life of quiet solitude.

Who are you hanging out with today?
